10 Best Ice Type Pokemon
1. ALOLAN NINETALES
Ninetales is a fox-like, quadruped ice type pokemon covered in thick, luxurious golden-white fur having slender legs.
With its hidden ability, Alolan Ninetales is a super useful pokemon which is usable in battle.
A base stat total of 505, including a speed stat of an impressive 109, means Alolan Ninetales is going to be hitting hard and fast. Its Special Attack isn’t tremendous but it is same-type attack bonus move like Ice Beam, Blizzard or Moonblast is still going to do some decent damage.
2. GLACEON
Glaceon is a quadruped, mammalian creature covered in light-blue fur that can be frozen into sharp quills.
It might not have access to Hail-starting abilities, but it’s still one of the best Ice type pokemon. It does not only have incredibly high Special Attack (130), but it also has an excellent Defense for an Ice type. Glaceon’s regular Defense is 110, and Special Defense is 95 that helps make up for unremarkable speed.
Like a fancy frosty porcupine, it can freeze its fur and turns its hairs into spiky needles, which can be fired into opponents. It can also control its own body temperature.
3. LAPRAS
Lapras is a large sea ice type Pokemon that resembles a plesiosaur.
Lapras is a classic and the first major ice Pokemon for many old-school players. It has high HP, as well as Special Defense. Being an Ice/Water-type means that Ice moves are very ineffective on it, and water attacks suffer too. It’s also highly intelligent, enough to understand human speech! Plus, it can learn some unusual moves for its type, including Electric and Grass types.
4. FROSLASS
Froslass is a humanoid ice type pokemon with a hollow torso that resembles a kimono.
Froslass is a chilling Ice/Ghost -type, and only Pokemon with that combination and it’s a pretty good type mix too, with total immunity to Normal- and Fighting-type moves. Its Speed goes up quite a bit to 110, which helps offset the slightly less impressive Attack and Special Attack.
It certainly has a reputation as an icy femme fatale, as it also allegedly takes away humans or Pokemon that it fancies, and freezes them to display items.
5. EISCUE
Eiscue is a small penguin-like ice type pokemon with a large ice cube on its head. This pokemon is a formidable force for physical attackers.
Eiscue is worthwhile as one of the best ice type pokemon is its signature ability, Ice face. The initial one with the iced-over face has high Defense (110) and Special Defense (90).
It has great ability with some very powerful uses. Eiscue has a nice 470 base stat total and it’s definitely a Pokemon worth using.
6. AURORUS
Aurorus is a quadruped, dinosaurian ice type pokemon that resembles a sauropod. One of the more aesthetically-beautiful fossil pokemon, it is an Ice/Rock type Pokemon. While this makes it very vulnerable to Fighting-and Steel-type moves, it has many ways of ensuring victory.
It has decent Attack. But Special Attack and Special Defense are Aurorus’ strong points which helps give an extra boost to Ancient Power and Frost Breath.
A nice base stat total of 521 means Aurorus can pack some serious punch.
7. CLOYSTER
Cloyster is a black, pearl-like ice type pokemon. It has been a widely-used and well-liked pokemon. It’s an Ice/Water-type with very high defense of 180, one of the highest in the franchise. With the move Shell Smash, Cloyster can trade in some of its ample defense for a boosted attack stat.
Cloyster has access to Icicle Spear, a multi-hit move that can strike up to 5 times which is often deadly for its opponents and it is unstoppable.
8. VANILLUXE
Vanilluxe is the result of two Vanillish stuck together after a daylight melting and nighttime freezing process and looks like a two-headed ice-cream.
Its Special Attack is a hefty 110 and its Defense stats are decent enough where Vanilluxe wont melt right away, though you can modify those with Acid Armor if needed. Vanilluxe’s move set is pretty heavily centered around Ice moves.
Vanilluxe has two brains, and when they are in sync it will unleash a fearsome blizzard on its opponent.
9. Mr. RIME
Mr. Rime is a bipedal, humanoid ice type Pokemon. It is either great or terrifying depending on your clown tolerance level.
Mr. Rime can learn the likes of Thunderbolt, Grass Knot and even Sucker Punch. The latter is surprisingly useful thanks to its base Attack stat of 5. It’s the Special Attack of 110 that makes Mr. Rime really capable of knocking foes out, with the family’s signature Screen moves there if you need a Defense boost.
10. GALARIAN DARMANITAN
Darmanitan is a mainly red, squat ape-like Pokemon.
Galarian Darmanitan makes it on the list of the best Ice Type Pokemon for the opposite reason regular Darmanitan was one of our Fire picks. Its base Attack is high enough to begin with at 140. But it shoots up to an incredible 160 in Zen Mode, with Speed of 135. It has a base stat total of 480 which is impressive and very usable.
